What is green??
"Green" building considers resource efficiency and environmental impact in every step of building or renovation. A home must be energy and water efficient to reduce our impact on global warming. The materials and processes that go into building a house should be sustainable. Waste needs to be minimized and recycling maximized to conserve resources. Indoor air must be clean to be healthy. Reduce, re-use, recycle. All of this can be done on the same budget as typical construction — it just takes a new mindset.

See our latest green project in Cranston, RI, which encompasses design (with 3-D computer modeling), an addition made from Structural Insulated Panels SIPs, a kitchen renovation, a new master bathroom, a dream closet and a deck. Yes, this was a wide-ranging and massive undertaking, but it is a conglomeration of smaller projects -- any of which Brusco Design & Renovation can do for new clients.

Classwork leading to the designation provides a solid background in green building methods.

Brusco Design & Renovation has been recycling waste and using existing materials such as existing doors, windows, moldings on projects. This practice lowers costs for the client by using what they already have. Environmentally speaking, it reduces waste and the need to make and ship new products. The wood products (doors and moldings) already match the existing architecture of the home, so it's a win-win-win situation. Brusco Design & Renovation uses sustainable, low environmental impact products during renovations, such as low-VOC paints and renewable products. We use the best insulating products appropriate for the task, such as Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) and expanding insulating foam, or something as simple as caulk, to reduce heating and cooling costs for our clients, which in turn reduces environmental impact.
